As a not for profit organization, its mission is to facilitate meaningful communication and purposeful collaboration, bringing together the region’s top healthcare decision-makers to elevate the quality of our community’s healthcare services.
South Florida Hospital Research & Education Foundation (SFHREF)
The South Florida Hospital Research and Education (Foundation (SFHREF), is a subsidiary of the South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association. SFHREF is a Florida non-profit organization that supports hospitals and health-related organizations by coordinating and co-sponsoring education programs (primarily through the South Florida Hospital Healthcare Association, by supporting efforts to increase the supply of health care professionals, and by supporting efforts to retain health care professionals and workers in South Florida. In addition, SFHREF conducts research and scientific investigations and fosters the accumulation and exchange of healthcare information.

For the SFHHA — as the region’s premier collective of healthcare professionals — to continue to bring top decision-makers alongside the next generation of healthcare leaders to address pertinent issues and inspire innovative solutions that will positively impact our community’s health.
COMMITTEES
Serving on a committee offers the opportunity to help shape policy and to make a difference. It also gives industry professionals the chance to exchange ideas and to expand their knowledge and exposure.Duties include developing presentations and programs, including subject matter, determining suitable experts, style and format, as well as designing surveys and evaluation tools.
Duties include developing the Association’s federal, state and local positions on issues, and develop strategies to advocate healthcare policy positions before govenment, the media, the public and other organizations which affect Association members as defnied by our bylaws.
Explores financial issues pertaining to health care services, including research and development, managed care, reimbursement mechanisms, and indigent care.
The HIT Committee facilitates communication within the Healthcare IT Communities, advocates for the adoption of EHR and other critical infrastructure systems. This includes updates on emerging areas within the continuum of care such as Telehealth and Telemedicine. In addition, the committee will issue updates on federal/state initiatives, policies and legislation impacting HIT.
Responsible for refining marketing information, member retention and new member identification and acquisition.

South Florida Hospital News and Healthcare Report
Focuses on creating PR-related educational seminars, boosting SFHHA brand recognition, and sharing best practices around transparency, consumer-driven care and press-hospital relations.
Develops educational programs focused on quality improvement and public accountability, identifies best practices, and recognizes high-quality health and human services organizations.
Areas of responsibility include violence and theft prevention, legislation designating hospital and healthcare facilities “safety zones,” and disaster preparedness and response.
The workforce committee addresses overall personnel shortages and challenges among SFHHA members to work collectively towards non-competitive solutions for the workforce shortage issues.
